The Audi Group – with the two brands Audi and Lamborghini – is one of the world’s most successful car manufacturers in the premium segment.
Audi brand vehicles delight customers around the world with their technological innovations, pioneering, emotional design and high build quality. The essence of the brand, “Vorsprung durch Technik”, embodies the Company’s pledge to satisfy the high expectations of its customers in every respect and, in so doing, focuses on the sustainability of its technological solutions. This brand identity is made real for the customer through a wide range of models, a factor that, in 2009, enabled the brand with the four rings to further consolidate its strong position on the world’s car markets, despite a difficult economic environment.
In the past fiscal year, deliveries were down just 5.4 percent on the prior-year figure to 949,729 cars. In addition, the Company succeeded in increasing market shares in the premium segment in numerous markets.

The Italian brand Lamborghini upholds a long tradition in the supercar segment. Yet the fascination generated by its unique and uncompromising vehicles remains as strong as ever. In the past fiscal year, the company delivered 1,515 of its exclusive vehicles.
Ingolstadt
The head office of the Audi Group is located in Ingolstadt. Besides Technical Development, this is also where Sales, Administration and the bulk of vehicle manufacturing operations are based. The models built at this location include the A3 and A3 Sportback, the A4 line, the A5 Sportback, the A5 Coupé and the Q5. In addition, the particularly sporty model versions S3, S3 Sportback, S4 Sedan, S4 Avant, S5 Sportback and S5 Coupé are manufactured at the Company’s headquarters. Bodies for the TT car line and for the A3 Cabriolet are also made in Ingolstadt.
Neckarsulm
In Neckarsulm, the second German site, the Audi Group builds the A4 Sedan, A5 Cabriolet, the A6 car line and the A8 luxury sedan, as well as the particularly high-performance derivative models S5 Cabriolet, S6 Sedan and S6 Avant.
Also located in Neckarsulm, quattro GmbH is responsible for the extremely challenging bespoke manufacturing of the Audi R8 mid-engine sports car and production of the high-performance vehicles, the Audi RS 6 Sedan and RS 6 Avant, and the Audi Q7 V12 TDITDISynonymous with muscular torque delivery and outstanding efficiency: TDI. Today, TDI engines are sporty, smooth and economical.TDI quattro. The company, a fully owned subsidiary of AUDI AG, furthermore offers an attractive range of customization options for all Audi models and sells high-quality lifestyle accessories that embody the spirit of the brand with the four rings.
International production locations
AUDI BRUSSELS S.A./N.V., the Belgian site in Brussels, which has been part of the Audi manufacturing network since March 2007, builds the Audi A3 Sportback and will continue to do so until May 2010; after this it will commence the volume production of the Audi A1.
At the Hungarian plant in Győr, AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. develops and manufactures engines for AUDI AG, other Volkswagen Group companies and third parties. It also builds the Coupé and Roadster versions of the Audi TT, TTS and TT RS, as well as the A3 Cabriolet in tandem with the Ingolstadt plant. The company has emerged as one of the country’s major exporters and highest-revenue businesses.
Sant’ Agata Bolognese in Italy is home to Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., which manufactures the supercars Gallardo LP 560-4, Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder, Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, Murciélago LP 640 Coupé, Murciélago LP 640 Roadster and Murciélago Superveloce.
Sales subsidiaries
In Italy, VOLKSWAGEN GROUP ITALIA S.P.A., which is headquartered in Verona, sells vehicles built by the Audi brand. The subsidiary of Automobili Lamborghini Holding S.p.A. also sells cars built by the other Volkswagen Group brands, as do the subsidiaries Audi Volkswagen Middle East FZE, headquartered in Dubai, and Audi Volkswagen Korea Ltd., which has its head office in Seoul.
The largest shareholder of AUDI AG is Volkswagen AG, which holds over 99 percent of the share capital. A control and profit transfer agreement exists between the two companies. Volkswagen AG includes the consolidated financial statements of AUDI AG in its own consolidated financial statements. There are furthermore profit transfer agreements in place between AUDI AG and its key subsidiaries in Germany.
The Audi Group can look back on healthy and sustainable growth in recent years. In 2009, its sales revenue totaled EUR 29.8 (34.2) million and consequently fell short of the previous year’s record figure as a result of the global financial and economic crisis. However, with a clearly positive operating profit of EUR 1,604 (2,772) million, the Audi Group demonstrated its excellent ability to compete even under difficult economic conditions.
