The Audi Efficiency Challenge, A to B, started on September 22. It went from Ǻ, on the Lofoten Islands in Norway, to Bée in Italy. We invited 48 Audi owners to drive their current Audi models as efficiently as possible along one of three sections of the 4,182 kilometre route from the far north right down to the Mediterranean.
The aim of this trial was not to cover a route as fast as possible. Rather, we wanted to demonstrate how much actual fuel consumption in everyday driving conditions is directly affected by driving behaviour. Audi was on the lookout for 48 Audi drivers organised into 8 teams for each section, who wanted to experience the sheer fun of driving an Audi from A to B and, in the process, could demonstrate how efficiently they were able to do so. The task: the participants had to complete the route from Ǻ on the Lofoten Islands in Norway to Bée in Italy in 9 days, as efficiently as possible. From September 22 to 30, the tour took in 8 countries, with the 3 sections each comprising 3 stages.
On this unique trip, the participants passed through such destinations as Oslo, Copenhagen, Berlin, Prague and Kitzbühel. All meals before and during the trip had been pre-booked – each evening the drivers were treated to a gastronomic meal and given a bed for the night in a carefully selected hotel.
The 48 drivers could be followed live on Twitter throughout the Audi Efficiency Challenge from A to B.
