At the heart of the Audi A8 are its modern, systematically refined engines. Impressive reserve power delivers superior road performance and consistently immaculate handling – with consumption and emission figures that have been decisively lowered compared with the previous model, thanks to a whole series of efficiency measures.
In FSIFSIGetting more out of every drop of petrol.FSI technology, the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber and atomised into a fine spray. This way, the fuel – metered to almost droplet precision – can be called upon the millisecond that the engine requires it. This means better utilisation of the fuel and ultimately, reduced consumption. The legendary 24 hour race of Le Mans has shown how important an efficient use of fuel is: There, the Audi R8, powered by an FSI engine, has been able to enjoy several convincing victories.
The 4.2 litre V8 engine* in your Audi A8 utilises FSI technology too. The latest generation of engine control units and an innovative thermal management system also help to reduce fuel consumption. The engine thus reaches its operating temperature more quickly after a cold start, thereby reducing friction losses. The new Audi A8 4.2 FSI requires 9.5 litres of fuel per 100 km – whilst outputting an impressive 273 kW of power. Its maximum torque of 445 Nm will take you from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.
Consumption figures and emission values:
Fuel consumption, combined: 9.5 l/100 km
CO2 emissions, combined: 219 g/km
The six-cylinder engine generates a powerful 213 kW. An innovative mechanical supercharging system with charge air cooler is employed, and turns the 3.0 TFSITFSIAudi was the first manufacturer in the world to combine petrol direct injection with turbocharging in large-scale car productionTFSI V6 into a compact powerhouse – with moderate fuel consumption. The peak torque of 420 Nm is sure to impress you, as will the torque curve: At least 90% of it is within a engine speed range of 2,500 and 4,850 rpm. Thanks to its very spontaneous responsiveness and exceptional power delivery across the entire speed range, the six-cylinder engine promotes a particularly dynamic driving style. The Audi A8 accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and still has plenty of power reserves left after that. Plus, it goes without saying it complies with the EU5 emissions standard.
