The TFSI engine of the Audi RS 6 Avant

The 4.0 litre V8 TFSI engine of the Audi RS 6 Avant, developing 412 kW (560 bhp), accelerates it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Consistently sporty power, put to full use. The thrill of motor sport on ordinary roads.

With Audi cylinder on demand only four of the eight cylinders are active in partial-load operation, depending on the driving conditions. While keeping the engine running as smoothly as ever, the Audi valvelift system closes the intake and exhaust valves on two cylinders on each bank and switches off their injection and ignition. Neither is air drawn in nor fuel consumed, translating into noticeably better fuel efficiency and emission figures.

The 4.0 litre V8 TFSI engine also features a start-stop system and recuperation. The Audi RS 6 Avant excels with its spontaneous responsiveness and extraordinary power delivery over the entire engine speed range.

It has an appropriate automatic transmission in the form of the 8-speed tiptronic, which boasts rapid gear changes and high efficiency. The dynamic shift program (DSP) makes sure that gear changes take place within the optimum engine-speed range, to reduce losses of propulsive power. The tiptronic comes features sport program (S) or manual mode for an even more dynamic driving style.
