Sporting driving mode: The models from the Audi Sport GmbH are designed and manufactured to operate on public roads. In comparison to driving on roads, significantly higher vehicle loads occur during the use of the cars on racetracks or other enclosed courses, e.g. during driver training, driving training courses, track days. The engine, transmission, clutch and drive train in particular as well as the suspension, brakes and tyres are put under significant stress. This can lead to increased wear and tear. Information about the special load characteristics when using your vehicle on racetracks or other enclosed courses can be found in the on-board literature or by contacting your Audi partner.

Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI

In the R8 V10 the ten-cylinder engine produces 397 kW (540 hp) and 540 Nm of torque from its 5,204 cm3, the latter at a rate of 6,500 1/min. As a result, the acceleration from 0 takes to 100 km/h takes just 3.5 seconds; its top speed is around 320 km/h.

Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI plus

The R8 V10 plus is even more powerful, making it the fastest Audi production car of all time. It produces a mighty 449 kW (610 hp), its maximum torque of 560 Nm is delivered at a rate of 6,500 1/min. The driving performance figures are impressive: 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 9.9 seconds, a top speed of 330 km/h.

Strong down to the finest detail

The dry sump lubrication system completes the 5.2 FSI's technical equipment package. The ten-cylinder engine is built by hand in the Hungarian engine plant in Györ. Classic motorsport technology makes it possible to install the power unit very low down, which greatly benefits the car's centre of gravity. This also ensures that the oil supply functions well even under extreme lateral acceleration.

S tronic®

Both in the Audi R8 V10 as well as the Audi R8 V10 plus the forces are directed to a lightning-fast seven-speed S tronic transmission system, which is mounted behind the engine. Three different drive modes offer the driver full adaptability, if desired the S tronic can also be controlled manually. Gear change commands are transmitted electronically (by wire). A launch control feature manages the maximum acceleration from a standing start. Another S tronic function is activated when the driver takes his foot off the gas at speeds over 55 km/h. In this case both clutches open and the car enters a coasting mode. Especially during real-life use by customers this feature saves considerable amounts of fuel.

quattro®, the permanent all-wheel drive

The permanent quattro all-wheel drive gives the R8 Coupé a decisive plus in terms of stability and traction compared to its two-wheel drive competitors. On the front axle an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch replaces the viscous coupling unit of the predecessor model. Depending on the driving situation and the weather conditions the newly developed quattro drive allows a completely free, fully variable distribution of the drive torques between the front and rear axle. In normal operation up to 100 percent of the power output is directed to the rear wheels, if required, the clutch will redirect up to 100 percent of this power output to the front axle, increasing it in continuous increments. Thanks to the mechanical, limited-slip differential on the rear axle the driver experiences maximum traction without slippage.
