Lightweight and powerful.

The heart of the new S4 Saloon is the newly developed V6 engine with direct fuel injection and turbocharging. The 3.0 TFSI generates 260 kW (354 PS) and delivers 500 Nm of torque. The standard configuration four-wheel drive quattro brings this power to the road - with individual vehicle settings via Audi drive select. The newly developed 8-speed tiptronic transmission shifts spontaneously, smoothly, rapidly, and virtually without pause.

The 3.0 TFSI engine in the Audi S4 Saloon

Driving experience and dynamism at the level of a sports car: The S4 Saloon accelerates in 4.7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, and further to a maximum speed of up to 250 km/h. In the NEFZ cycle the S4 Saloon makes do with less than 7.4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres (170 grams of CO2 per kilometre). The S4 Saloon has these values thanks to the new eight-speed tiptronic: It works very efficiently, shifting rapidly, comfortably, and spontaneously. As soon as the driving situation permits, it switches to freewheel, saving fuel.

The power of the six-cylinder hits the road via the standard configuration four-wheel drive quattro - as with every Audi S model. During normal driving the self-locking centre differential directs 60 percent of the torque to the rear axle and 40 percent to the front. Even dynamic cornering doesn't impress the four-wheel drive quattro: The inside wheels are minimally braked before they can start slipping. The handling is precise, stable, and agile. The optional sport differential additionally improves handling by actively distributing the power between the rear wheels.

The chassis of the Audi S4 Saloon

Don't brake - the S4 Saloon masters curves of all kinds with flying colours. It impresses with excellent directional stability during dynamic motorway driving. This performance is due to the newly developed chassis: The five-link suspensions at the front and rear axles separate the longitudinal and lateral forces precisely from each other, ensuring optimum handling in all driving situations. Both are - as with the electromechanical power steering - very light by design.

The S sports chassis is 23 millimetres lower than the A4 models. Along with the motor, steering, tiptronic and sport differential, the so-called CDC dampers (CDC = Continuous Damping Control) are integrated into the standard driving dynamics system of Audi drive. This way the driver can adjust the chassis characteristics in multiple modes, thus adapting to his driving behaviour. Optional modes: comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency, and individual.
